Crime Scene Team (CST)

The Crime Scene Team (CST) is comprised of highly trained officers that consist of one supervisor and eight team members. The CST serves in an “on-call” capacity, meaning that all CST members have other departmental job assignments that they perform on a daily basis. 

In the event of a homicide, suspicious death and/or suicides, the CST is notified to respond and process the scene using photography, videography and sketching as well as other sophisticated equipment like DSLR cameras with specialty lenses and filters, Alternate Light Sources, sealed container vacuums for discovery of trace evidence, and a fuming chamber for development of latent fingerprints. 

It is the Crime Scene Team’s responsibility to process the scene for any available evidence, document it, collect it, and properly preserve it for lab analysis and court proceedings.

Emergency Services Unit (ESU)

The Clarksville Police Department established an Emergency Services Unit (ESU) in order to substantially reduce the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police and suspects . ESU is comprised of the Tactical Unit and the Crisis Negotiator Team. These teams are utilized in situations which pose an unusual risk to police officers and/or the citizens of Clarksville.

Tactical Team

The mission of the Clarksville Police Department Tactical Unit is recognizing that the presence of the highly trained, highly skilled Police Tactical Unit has been shown to substantially reduce the risk of injury, of loss of life to citizens, police officers and suspects; and recognizing that a well managed “team” response to high risk situations usually results in a successful resolution, it is the intent of the Clarksville Police Department’s Tactical Unit to provide a highly trained and skilled tactical team as a resource for the Clarksville Police Department in the handling of high risk situations.

CRISIS NEGOTIATOR TEAM

The purpose of the Crisis Negotiator Team is to complement the Clarksville Police Departments total service program with the deployment of specially trained negotiators to assist in the safe resolution of critical incidents such as hostage, barricaded persons and suicidal situations.
